Trend Of The Week!

We all try to take care of ourselves, right? This week, our trend is the Acai (ah-sah-EE) Berry! Whether you're a celebrity or the average Joe, this powerfruit will boost your system, guaranteed! The Acai fruit is currently known as the highest antioxidant producer in the world.

Local Brazilian food markets offer acai in frozen form, ready to eat. If you're on the run, try a pure acai smoothie by Sambazon. You can find Sambazon products at your local Whole Foods Market.
Currently in the U.S., the acai fruit is not available in it's raw form. There are powders, smoothies and frozen puree available at a market near you. **Make sure to always check the ingredient labels.

We all must wonder how something so small can carry such powerful, necessary nutrients for the human mind and body. It's like we say "experimenta o acai e ver que vai ficar forte igual o homen X".

Hmm...Hmm...Hmm... Brazilian Cuisine

Every country has its delicacies, and Brazil is no stranger! From traditional feijoada (bean stew with pieces of pork), to succulent steakhouses and what is rated as the best Italian food in the world, Brazil has something to offer specific to every region.

Served in typical Gaucho style, the tradition originated in Southern Brazil in the 1900's and is carried in churrascarias throughout the world.

The term "rodizio" is similar to a buffet, however, there are over 12 kinds of prime cut meats to choose from in addition to having an immense variety of side dishes.

A meat-lover's paradise, Porcao Churrascaria
is very well-known throughout the world.
Frommer's Magazine has details available
for pricing and driving information.

For an affordable alternative, Gaucho Rodizio in Pompano Beach does not disappoint! I've taken family and friends there and since it's smaller than most rodizio-style restaurants, it provides a very comfortable atmosphere. This restaurant also provides samba and capoeira shows on the weekends. Check their website for event information.

Another churrascaria, Texas De Brazil is slowly taking over the U.S. with it's ever-growing franchise chain. The restaurant's decor is very modern and lavish, providing an upscale dining experience. Pricing varies per location.

To top everything off, all Brazilian restaurants offer authentic drinks and dessert to complete your mouth-watering dining experience. Enjoy!

Upcoming Local Events

The tri-county area provides many Brazilian cultural events - they're just not as advertised as others.

It's a big trend in many parts of Brazil to have some "cowboy" fun! From dressing the part, to rodeos and fairs, the Brazilian cowboy world is very much a part in Florida.

There's an event coming up on July 25th @Bergeron Rodeo Grounds.

If rodeo is not your style and you prefer something more classic, why not check out a performance by Brazarte Modern Dance Company? There are several shows in the Miami area, the next available date is in September. Brazarte offers shows that are based from historical times in Brazil or pieces of Brazilian culture.

If art is what strikes your interest, there are several exhibits currently showing in the Palm Beach and Miami area. For more information, please go to the Consulate website where you'll find events that suit everyone's taste of fun.

The Famous....or.....infamous Brazilian bikini

After that rigorous workout, you're ready to have some fun in the sun! Why not do it as the Brazilians do? There are many Brazilian retail shops throughout South Florida where you can buy VERY CHEAP bikinis! They come in S,M,L yet the sizes all seem the same, and there are hundreds of colors and patterns to choose from! My personal favorite is the crochet bikini which is hand-made! My grandmother made over a dozen for me years ago and they still fit the same!
You can view the FloridaBrasil site for retail locations, google "Brazilian crochet bikinis" or contact me and I'll help you find beautiful inexpensive bikinis!

Exercise comes first!

Brazil is known for its beautiful land and beautiful people. Although many say this is true genetics, brazilian people always take care of their bodies.

Aside from regular exercising, we are a culture that has capitalized on Soccer, Volleyball, Jiu-Jitsu, Capoeira and the art of Samba. Everyone can learn many things from performing these different types of exercises, not only does it help the body, but also the mind and soul.

Check out samba for a preview that will leave you ready to move your body! This video incorporates samba steps and capoeira routines. For a more traditional capoeira, check out batucada.

Get your samba started so you can fit in that Brazilian itty-bitty bikini!
